Bridgeall Blog: The Digital Gap in Public Sector Transformation
Research conducted by iGov Survey, in January/February 2017, evaluated the digital transformation progress being made by UK central and local government.
Based on responses from 235 individuals representing 180 unique organisations, the report concludes that a major ‘digital gap’ still exists between how services are currently delivered and how they should be delivered in a modern, digital public sector. While good work has been done to kick start digital adoption across central and local government, a lot still needs to be done before departments transform how services are delivered.
Major barriers to change will need to be overcome before the estimated £2 billion savings in online service delivery are achieved.
