Almost forty retailers attended the most recent Glasgow City Centre Retail Association summit with contributions from both Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Life.
Derek Dunsire of Glasgow City Council presented an update on Glasgow City Council’s £115 million investment in city deal projects and, in particular, plans for the “Avenues” project which will commence this year with Sauchiehall Street, moving on to Argyle Street late 2018. Derek also briefly discussed the ongoing consultations with the “Regeneration Frameworks” as part of the City Centre Strategy. Consultation is currently underway for the “Central” framework which includes much of the City’s retail focus. Tom Rice then updated the meeting on the integration of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau with Glasgow Life. The CCRA built strong relations with Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and will continue these with Glasgow Life. We will be working with Glasgow Life to maximise the opportunities for relationship building through Glasgow Life’s broader offering, including museums, sports facilities and events. Tom gave a great insight into the marketing approach and opportunities for retailers. The CCRA will continue to work with Glasgow Life to promote retail and the destination, and there are many ways in which individual retailers can take advantage of campaigns and channels to reach local, national and international markets.
