DYW Glasgow as part of an national initiative in response to youth unemployment (which has been predicted at 13.4% due to Covid-19) has created national resources and events to support young people to increase their skills and knowledge to access industry and employment. The events have also been targeted at the needs of parents/carers. Both these initiatives are outlined below.
DYW Skills Academy: Get Industry Ready
DYW have made a commitment to deliver a DYW Skills Academy: Get Industry Ready experiences over the month of July and August which includes delivering a series of virtual activities and employability experiences for young people leaving school summer 2020.
Who is the DYW Skills Academy for?
Certain elements are open to all young people, others are more targeted to young people looking to progress into employment/social mobility and those applying for jobs and apprenticeships.
Young people will have from the 23rd June – 12th July to register for the DYW Skills Academy and register via www.dyw.scot/skills-academy
Can you help with the DYW Skills Academy?
As part of the programme, young people actively seeking employment will have access to a virtual mock interview and CV check from business. Would you and your colleagues welcome the opportunity to lead a virtual mock interview or CV check for a young person, helping them make a more successful transition to the world of work?
You can offer to support one or both experiences, taking place between 10th – 14th August. Mock interviews will take approximately 25 minutes and CV checks approximately 30 minutes. Everyone willing to support will receive a guidance pack with templates
Email email@example.com if you would like to be part of this national campaign to support young people across Scotland by 12th July
