On June 6th Subramanian Ramadorai is arriving from India to present 'Guiding TCS to the Billion Dollar League' to members & partners of the Asia Scotland Institute at the Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow.
India is the world's largest sourcing destination for the information technology (IT) industry. The industry has led the economic transformation of the country and altered the perception of India in the global economy. India's cost competitiveness in providing IT services, which is approximately 3-4 times cheaper than the US, continues to be the mainstay of its Unique Selling Proposition (USP) in the global sourcing market. However, India is also gaining prominence in terms of intellectual capital with several global IT firms setting up their innovation centres in India.
Mr Ramadorai is one of the most influential figures in the Global Technology Industry having been the visionary CEO of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for over a decade, turning them into a multi-billion dollar company. He recently retired as the Vice – Chairman of TCS, a company he was associated with, for 42 years. He took charge as CEO in 1996 when the company’s revenues were at $ 155 million and since then led the company through some of its most exciting phases, including its going public in 2004.
In October 2009, he completed his tenure as CEO, leaving a $ 6 billion global IT services company to his successor to lead. He was then appointed Vice Chairman of TCS. Today, the company’s revenues stand at US $ 16.54 billion for the year 2015-2016.
Subramanian Ramadorai also is the Chairman of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE Limited) and AirAsia (India) Pvt Ltd. He continues to be an Independent Director on the Boards of Hindustan Unilever Limited, Asian Paints Limited and Piramal Enterprises Limited.
