We’re pleased to announce a UK first. Moda is collaborating with Uber to help reduce car ownership across the UK’s largest cities.
Incorporating prop tech into every Moda development, Uber will offer residents up to £100 credits per month which they can access via their Moda resident app. In the first collaboration of its kind in Britain, Uber credits will be given to every resident that agrees not to have a car parking space within a Moda development.
Instead of owning a car and renting a parking space, Uber credit will allow residents to simply press a button and get a ride, reducing the need for city centre car ownership.
This will also allow Moda to swap the space previously used for car parking for greater amenities within the development, including fitness centres and media rooms.
Moda will offer renters a bespoke app to connect with each other, control heating and entertainment, as well as order food and other services, such as booking a ride through Uber. The integration will offer customers a seamless city centre renting experience.
By partnering with Uber, Moda is hoping to create more sustainable developments as UK policymakers seek to encourage more housebuilding while reducing emissions.
There are around 30 million cars in the UK – and 95% of the time cars remain parked and unused, taking up valuable space on the street or in car parks. By helping to reduce the need to own a private car, the partnership’s aim is to put urban space to better use and reduce congestion and air pollution over time. In London Uber also offers UberPOOL where riders can share a car with someone heading the same way, helping to further reduce miles travelled.
Moda, backed by Apache Capital Partners, is delivering more than 6,000 apartments across the UK with major city centre developments in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, and Birmingham, all cities where Uber operates. Its first scheme, Angel Gardens in Manchester’s NOMA neighbourhood, is currently under construction and will house close to 900 residents when it completes in 2019.
Moda’s buildings are created only for rent, and include shared areas that mimic a high-end hotel.
