Members are reminded that there is a deadline of September 30th to appeal current business rates revaluations.
Stuart Patrick, chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: “We would encourage all businesses to consider appealing current revaluations before the deadline date.
“We’ve said business rates is increasingly viewed as a broken tax, and while the Barclay Review makes progress in addressing some issues, it was constrained by the requirement to be revenue neutral.
“The recommendations from the review will not solve the challenges faced in licensed businesses and hotels from the 2017 revaluation, with those problems remaining once the one-year cap increases finishes. We would support the continuation of the existing cap beyond the current year.”
