Scottish entrepreneur Laura Birrell is walking tall after signing a distribution deal with TSB Sales which will see her Sticky Heelz foot care products sold across the US.
20,000 units of shoe inserts have already been shipped to New York ahead of a dedicated e-commerce website which will launch later this month.
Since it was launched in 2015, Sticky Heelz has been nominated for two Royal Bank of Scotland Great British Entrepreneur Awards, and its products have been stocked in high street beauty chains such as Boots and Superdrug.
Laura Birrell commented: “I’m delighted to be working with TSB Sales, as the firm has inroads with the home shopping network as well as Walmart and Walgreens.
“Securing listings with Boots and Superdrug were two of my main aims when I first started; the third was to break into America. To be able to say I’ve achieved those goals in three years feels surreal.”
In 2016, the company took part in Glasgow Chamber of Commerce’s 2016 Made in Manhattan delegation to New York, during which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two cities’ Chambers of Commerce which recognised a mutual interest in trading between home-grown businesses in both cities.
Glasgow-based online gift subscription service WeeBox, which was launched at the Made in Manhattan trade mission, is also celebrating success after winning Best Cultural Gift Box Company at the 2018 Global Entertainment Awards.
The win follows the company’s milestone announcement in 2017 that WeeBox products were being exported to 15 countries internationally, with North America and Australia proving to be the most popular markets.
