Glasgow Chamber of Commerce has delivered another successful series of Glasgow Talks business seminars in 2018, the most recent being themed around Brands with Scottish DNA.
Deputy chief executive of the Chamber, Richard Muir said: “I was delighted to host our Glasgow Talks…Brands with Scottish DNA. We welcomed our guests, Martin Steele, head of innovation at A.G Barr and Mark Hogarth, creative director of Harris Tweed Hebrides, to the Blythswood Hotel.
“There couldn’t have been a better way to celebrate St. Andrew’s Day than to hear about two of Scotland’s most successful and famous companies and their brilliant brands which are both rooted in innovation, place, provenance, authenticity and personality.
“Martin discussed the three main words that resonate with Irn Bru throughout the brand’s evolution – strength, boldness and confidence. Last, but in no way least, Mark did a sterling job at discussing how crucial it is for a Scottish institution such as Harris Tweed to stick to what they do best and tell their story effectively. I’m sure that everyone in attendance will agree, Mark tells the story better than anyone else probably could.
“Thanks again to both Martin and Mark for their fabulous contributions and stories, and continued thanks to our series sponsors, Clydesdale and the University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School.”
Glasgow Talks is set for another busy schedule kicking off in January with excellent speakers, pressing topics and great insights.
The first in the 2019 series will focus on the construction sector, and the innovative techniques the industry is undertaking to keep ahead of the curve by implementing state of the art technologies, design and procedures to not only create economic growth, efficiency and profitability, but also to develop skills and talent in the industry.
In February, Glasgow Talks will welcome Derek Provan, CEO of AGS Airports and Mark Johnston, Managing Director, Glasgow Airport as our guest speakers. They will share their vision, touching on the important role the airport plays in supporting Glasgow’s and Scotland’s connectivity and outlining some of the opportunities.
Glasgow Talks - supported by Adam Smith Business School at the University of Glasgow and Clydesdale Bank - is Glasgow Chamber's monthly series of business seminars featuring influential guest speakers drawn from the business and political elite.
