Tron Theatre Company is delighted to announce that Sam Gough will take up the position of Executive Director following the recent departure of Lesley Renton from the role. Sam will join the company in early September 2018 from his current position as General Manager and Head of Operations at Summerhall.
He joins the Tron at an exciting juncture in the venue’s history – Artistic Director Andy Arnold has celebrated his 10th anniversary at the helm with a slew of critically acclaimed new work including the recent Ma, Pa and the Little Mouths, and a substantial programme of capital investment work that will see the venue’s outward-facing and backstage facilities improved and upgraded in what is its 35th year as a producing and receiving theatre.
Shereen Nanjiani, Chair of the Board of Tron Theatre Company said:
‘We are delighted to welcome Sam Gough as our new Executive Director. Sam has an impressive track record managing venues and leading organisations at a senior level. The experience he brings will make for a strong partnership with our Artistic Director and Chief Executive Andy Arnold, ensuring The Tron continues to develop as one of Scotland's leading theatres.’
Sam has been at Summerhall for six years, where he’s been credited with leading the team that has maintained the building, enhancing its growing reputation, and stabilizing the running of the entire operation.
Robert McDowell, Summerhall’s owner and founder commented:
‘We wish Sam every luck, obviously sad to see him go, but excited that he will be taking all he has learnt from Summerhall to the Tron. He has assured us that he will keeping an eye on us from the west and of course he will always be welcome back!’
