An event aimed at encouraging equality within apprenticeships has been organised by Skills Development Scotland (SDS).
The ‘Including You’ event invites groups from minority groups, young women, people with disabilities and those with experience in care to attend.
It will be at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Cambridge Street, Glasgow from 10am until 2pm on Tuesday 6 March.
Workshops to meet the needs of young people and their parents will be delivered by a range of partners and SDS.
As well as the workshops, there will be employer and provider stands where people can try activities including engineering and electrical tasks.
The event is aimed at diversifying participation in the apprenticeship family which includes Foundation, Modern and Graduate apprenticeships.
SDS’s Equality Team Leader for National Training Programmes April Robertson said: “The importance of this event during Scottish Apprenticeship Week cannot be understated. At SDS one of our key goals is to enable young people to access apprenticeships where they can work, earn and learn in a wide variety of careers from accountancy to aeronautical engineering and many more.”
The event brings together employers and community organisations including the NHS, Prudential, Wheatley Housing and BAE Systems.
