On Friday 23 February almost 200 ladies gathered at Hamilton Park Racecourse for the first ever Dancing Queen charity event, raising nearly £7,000 for Beatson Cancer Charity.
With a proven track record delivering highly successful events and catering, the Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events team at Hamilton Park Racecourse ensured guests had an evening to remember.
A night full of singing, dancing, and delicious food, attendees settled down in the Parade Ring Marquee for an evening of ABBA-mania, with a screening of Mamma Mia followed by fundraising games and a charity auction.
On arrival guests were treated to ‘Take a chance on me’, a gin and prosecco cocktail created especially for the event by Badaboom Bars.
Putting together a ‘super trouper’ menu, Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events served up a three-course meal made from locally sourced ingredients.
Attendees enjoyed an Ayrshire chicken liver parfait starter, wrapped in parma ham and brushed with a black cherry glaze, before moving on to an eight-hour braised spalebone of beef topped with crispy shallot and chives, buttery potatoes, purple carrots and a dark ale jus. A white chocolate parfait topped with a layer of pistachio and raspberry crumb, with fresh raspberry coulis, rounded off the mouth-watering meal.
Vivien Currie, Chief Executive at Hamilton Park Racecourse, said: “At Hamilton Park Racecourse we have a wealth of event spaces suitable for every occasion, and we were delighted to work with Beatson Cancer Charity and the organising team to put together this one of a kind event.
“We loved seeing so many people enjoying the carefully executed meal before dancing and singing the night away. A subject close to many hearts, it was a privilege to be part of raising such a fantastic sum for the deserving charity.”
Beatson Cancer Charity’s Director of Fundraising, Morag Cunningham, said: “We are thrilled to have collaborated with Girls Uptown on this unique event. And a big thank you to everyone who helped us raise £6,715 on the night.
“Beatson Cancer Charity is extremely grateful to committee members Frances McMeeking and Lorna McGowan, for their efforts in raising funds for the charity. This will allow the continued support of people affected by cancer, every step of the way. Beatson Cancer Charity provides services, as well as funding specialists, research and education to invest in a better future for cancer patients and their families.”
