Europe Day, George Square, Glasgow, 9 May

The European Commission Office in Scotland is delighted that both the Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs, Fiona Hyslop MSP and The Lord Provost of Glasgow, Eva Bolander have kindly agreed to open our celebration. We are also hoping to see a Commonwealth Games Scottish medallist and again be joined by an EU Ambassador. (TBC)

The official part of Europe Day is scheduled to start at 12.30 and will be kindly opened by the Official Piper of the Scottish Parliament, Stuart McMillan MSP who will play of "Ode to Joy." Many of you may have seen Stuart's wonderful rendition of "500 miles" from the roof of the new V&A Museum in Dundee https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyI3AwT8DqA This will be immediately followed by the EU Flag Ceremony.

After the short opening ceremony is complete, we shall clear the stage for the performance of our special guests: the well-known professional band "Hipsway" http://hipswayofficial.com/ whom we are delighted that they have found the time out of their busy recording and performing schedule to join us.
