Star-studded celebrations for hospice’s 25th anniversary Ladies Lunch

The stars came out to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice Ladies Lunch at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel.

Television’s Strictly Come Dancing finalist Debbie McGee and Scottish music legends Hipsway provided the entertainment on the day to a room full of more than 400 hospice supporters.

Sponsored by itison, the event was hosted by broadcaster Kaye Adams.

Honeythief stars Hipsway played at the lunch, following on from a celebrated band reunion and tour last year.

Grahame Skinner of Hipsway said: “When you have been lucky in life, as we have, it's important to stand back and appreciate that sometimes.

“Supporting charities like The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is a great way to do that. That's why we're happy to do what we can to support the great work of these people.”

Meanwhile, Debbie McGee added: “I am thrilled to have been invited to be part of the Ladies Lunch and support such a worthwhile cause that helps and cares for so many people.”

It costs the hospice £5million a year to provide palliative care to 1200 new patients and families every year, with only £1.9m of that money coming from the NHS, the rest has to be fundraised at event including the annual Ladies Lunch.

Nicole Dolan, corporate and events fundraiser at the hospice, said: “Our patients and families are at the very centre of everything we do. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we can continue to provide crucial services to those who are living with life-limiting illness.”

The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is building its new home on a 7.5-acre site in Bellahouston Park and doors will open later this year.

The hospice still has to raise £500,000 to reach the £21million target of the Brick by Brick Appeal. To donate £5, text KITITOUT to 70660 or make a donation online at www.ppwh.org.uk/donate.
