Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading association for project, programme and portfolio management professionals, has released three new thought leadership reports on navigating the ‘new normal’ of disruptive technologies.
Not surprisingly, professional project, programme and portfolio management approaches are viewed as being critical to successful digital transformation.
Forging the Future: Evolving with Disruptive Technologies argues that to secure their future in a redefined digital world, organisations must be willing to actively disrupt the status quo through embracing emerging technologies and new ways of working. As this happens, the PMO will continue to evolve as a strategic collaborator driving strategy delivery and execution.
Organisations reporting significantly higher levels of success with digital transformation cite the involvement of the project management function as one of the major reasons for this success, with the Project Management Office playing a critical in avoiding the disconnect between strategy and execution.
To continue performing this role, the PMO will need to reinvent itself, becoming an agent for organisational change and transformation by translating strategy to business outcomes, delivered through projects.
