Paul Little, Principal and Chief Executive of City of Glasgow College, said:
“It is an absolute privilege to congratulate each and every one of our very talented students.
“Graduation is a major highlight in our academic calendar, marking the progression of our Class of 2018 into the real world of work. It is a public celebration of accomplishment and of transition; of learning enhanced and of technical and professional skills mastered.”
Guests of Honour this year were Jim Pettigrew, Chair of Clydesdale Bank; Liam McCabe, President NUS Scotland; and Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council, who said:
“Glasgow is the fastest growing major city economy in the UK with thriving tourism, finance, digital and creative sectors, and world leading new industries flourishing within the city. It is essential we have the qualified workforce and emerging skills and talent to match the economic needs of the powerhouse of the Scottish economy.
“City of Glasgow College graduates, the skillsets and attributes they bring to the workplace are absolutely pivotal to that. Their ambitions, aspirations and successes are critical to Glasgow’s. We wish them well.”
The graduates achieved BA Degrees and BA Honours, Higher National Diplomas and Certificates, TUC Diplomas, Scottish Professional Diplomas and Certificates in Professional Development. The ceremony was streamed live online so friends and families unable to attend were able to watch the event.
