Falls of Clyde International Ltd, are engaged in early discussions with American Maritime Academy ( I.Y.R.S.) from Newport Rd Island over the creation a joint venture between their institution, F.O.C.Ltd and Scottish Universities and Colleges. This would deliver education based around the restoration of our Clyde built historic ship (Falls of Clyde).
The project, as proposed would share skills in new and traditional technologies from hydrogen engines, solar sails, battery solutions and wind turbines. Additionally during restoration old skills and shipbuilding skills will be taught and educational opportunities offered to communities across Scotland.
Once the ship has been restored she sail between the U.S. and Scotland, carry Fairtrade Cargos, offer Education at sea, Sail Adventure Holidays and become a collector and recycler of Ocean plastic waste. These operations will create the means for the ship to be self sustaining, with places onboard being offered to disadvantaged communities in Scotland and Europe.
Partners are being sought from commercial and educational institutions and businesses across Scotland and Europe to join this international effort to preserve heritage, while creating jobs, educating, offering opportunity alongside the latest carbon free technology and saving the oceans from ever increasing plastic waste.
