Quarriers achieves Investors In People Platinum Accreditation

Quarriers has become one of the first health and social care charities in Scotland to achieve Investors in People Platinum status.

The award is the highest level that can be achieved by an employer and puts Quarriers amongst 0.05% of companies in the UK to enjoy this accolade.

Derek Mackay, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Economy & Fair Work and MSP for Renfrewshire North and West, where Quarriers is headquartered, joined staff to unveil the plaque and celebrate the milestone.

Investors in People Platinum is recognised internationally as a leading people accreditation and demonstrates Quarriers’ commitment to its staff.

Around 1,800 hard-working individuals ensure Quarriers is able to provide practical care and support to thousands of vulnerable children, youngsters and adults across Scotland who face extremely challenging circumstances including poverty and homelessness. The social care charity also offers a range of services for unpaid carers and those affected by epilepsy and disability.

Alice Harper, Chief Executive for Quarriers said: “Quarriers is committed to our employees and securing the Investors in People Platinum award really is a fantastic outcome for us all. It represents a true team achievement in every sense.

“One of our strategic goals is to achieve excellence and this award demonstrates that we are truly on this journey together. My sincere thanks go out to each and every staff member for their contribution to this outstanding achievement.”

In October last year, Quarriers announced it had become an accredited Living Wage employer, further highlighting the social care charity’s investment in its staff.

Derek Mackay MSP said: “I am delighted to congratulate Quarriers on achieving their Platinum status. This is a wonderful reflection of the hard work of not just the management, but more importantly the frontline staff.

“It was heart-warming to hear staff members tell their own stories of the organisation encouraging them to develop their skills, and giving them the opportunity to do so, as well as receiving support when difficult personal issues arise. It is very clear to see the family environment which has been created and why they have received this status.

“The work Quarriers do across Scotland is simply fantastic and I am very proud to have their headquarters based in my constituency.”

Peter Russian, Chief Executive of Remarkable, the organisation licensed to deliver Investors in People in Scotland, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Quarriers, congratulations! Investors in People recognises organisations who are truly committed to their people, continuous improvement and customer service. We have supported Quarriers since 1998 and we’re delighted to see their ongoing dedication recognised with this Platinum award. Many congratulations!”

Investors in People defines what it takes to lead, support and manage people well. Successful accreditation is the sign of an excellent place to work lead by an employer committed to sustained success. Its Platinum award is the highest level an organisation can achieve.
