National Group Ford Retail has opened its doors as it becomes the latest occupant of the successful Rutherglen Business Park at Clyde Gateway, bringing 34 jobs to the area.
The new ‘Parts Plus’ depot is Ford Retail’s main hub for Scotland. Occupying a highly visible position, beside the M74 motorway, the 12,000 sq ft modern building provides two storey office accommodation and a large mezzanine over the main warehouse area, stocking over 16,000 different parts.
Clyde Gateway created the multi-million pound Rutherglen Links Business Park to provide a number of development opportunities. All five industrial plots of the 5.6 acre (2.26Ha) business park were acquired by Harris Finance, an experienced property developer with a successful local track record. Harris Finance has spearheaded the speculative industrial development at the business park which sees Ford Retail joining other high-profile occupiers including Screwfix, TransCanada Turbines and Eurocell, bringing the total number of jobs created at the site to around 200.
Ford Retail’s Chairman and CEO, Stuart Foulds, said: "Expanding into Scotland with our new Parts Plus hub is a major milestone for us. The site gives us a fantastic opportunity to deliver the best in class service that we're already known for elsewhere in the UK to new customers. We've launched a significant recruitment drive in the area and look forward to working with new customers in the network."
Ross Harris, of Harris Finance, said: “The combination of excellent transport links and infrastructure at Rutherglen Links Business Park has resulted in high levels of demand for these industrial units. Having global brand, Ford Retail, moving into the area is yet another vote of confidence for the Clyde Gateway area and it has been rewarding to play a part in supporting the further regeneration and job creation here.”
Ian Manson, Chief Executive of Clyde Gateway said: “We are delighted to welcome Ford Retail to the area. Thanks to Harris Finance’s extremely successful programme of speculative building, we seeing high calibre companies in the manufacturing, industrial and engineering sectors seeing the many benefits of moving to the area and choosing Rutherglen Links Business Park to call home.”
