Banish Blue Monday at St. Enoch Centre

With the harsh reality of January truly setting in and festive merriments becoming nothing but a distant memory, St. Enoch Centre is pulling out all the stops to cheer up shoppers this Blue Monday (21 January).

The centre is determined to make sure this Blue Monday is no longer officially the ‘most depressing day of the year’ for Glaswegians, by surprising lucky shoppers with goodies from a range of selected retailers including cakes from Aulds, coffee from Starbucks & Muffin Break, flowers from Urban Blooms, St. Enoch Centre gift cards and much more.

Chocolate is proven to boost serotonin levels and flowers are always a clear winner and St. Enoch Centre is tapping into the stress reducing, immune boosting ‘random acts of kindness’ effect and encouraging those lucky shoppers to put a smile on other people’s faces by doing something kind and thoughtful in return.

Anne Ledgerwood, General Manager at St. Enoch Centre, said: “Being generous is proven to increase happiness and reduce anxiety, so this isn’t your usual giveaway. We want to lead by example and let shoppers feel the benefit of doing something nice in an effort to beat Blue Monday.

“Glasgow is known for being upbeat and friendly no matter the time of year, but we also know the return to work as well as darker nights and mornings can get anyone down. By encouraging shoppers to ‘pass it on’ we hope to begin a pattern of goodwill.”
