Russell Wardrop, co-founder and chief executive of dynamic training organisation Kissing With Confidence, will take the stage next month to inspire more than 100 young professional at an event which will also propel him back into his past.
The renowned motivational speaker, who founded his successful company nearly 20 years ago, will deliver a pro bono address to members of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) at University of Strathclyde in Glasgow on March 20.
He is waiving what would normally be a substantial fee because of his long-standing connection with the global organisation, which encourages young people all over the world to become Active Citizens and make an impact in their communities.
Russell, who is now a JCI Senator, or life member, was with the organisation from 1988 to 2000 and has spoken at many of their international conferences. He was six times a Scottish Champion debater and was in the JCI World Debate Final twice. He has also judged the World Debate.
He said: “Junior Chamber International has affected the lives of tens of thousands of young people and it certainly inspired me. It would not be exaggerating to say that, without JCI, I would not have the business I now run.
“I will be delighted to bring my experience to such a talented young audience and I hope that I can inspire them in the same way that JCI professionals inspired me when I was their age.”
Amanda Taylor Chairperson of JCI Glasgow, said: “We are very excited at the prospect of hearing Russell Wardrop, who has been a good friend of JCI for many years. In fact, one of his first big events as Kissing With Confidence was in front of 75 international JCI delegates at the MGM Grande in Las Vegas.”
Russell will speak on the Seven Principles of Relationship Management, a key address on the fundamentals of building business relationships, including such topics as Guarding Your Relationship and Mastering Modern Manners.
The Junior Chamber International has more than 200,000 members globally, with in excess of 100 national organisations and 5000 local organisations. It has a single mission: to help people make a difference in their communities.
It is a non-profit organisation which focuses on sustainable impact locally and globally. It was founded in 1915 when Henry Giessenbier Jr and 32 other young men held the first meeting in their home town of St Louis, Missouri.
Kissing With Confidence is on target for growing turnover to £1.5 million. It employs 12 people and has a client portfolio including names such as the City of London Corporation, Aggreko, Costain, the Green Investment Bank and the Northern Ireland Office.
