The future is circular, but what is it, why should we embrace and what do we need to do to make it mainstream?
Glasgow Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Glasgow City Innovation District are delighted to invite you to join us for an exclusive screening of our short film ’Challenge the Gap.’ In the film Glaswegian comedian Paul Black embarks on an investigative journey to interview locals and meet innovative businesses who are leading the way in circularity.
Paul Black’s short-form comedy has gained millions of views via social channels, he rarely misses the mark when it comes to capturing the humour in everyday life in Glasgow and the material almost writes itself. The resulting film is an entertaining and illuminating snapshot of what’s already happening in Glasgow and offers inspiration about how businesses can move to more circular models.
COP26 put Glasgow on the world map. Glasgow Chamber has been leading the way with our Circular Glasgow initiatives and is globally recognised for our efforts, but to reach net zero we need a mindset shift to enable all businesses to adopt circular practices.
No legacy feels as important as how we handle the climate crisis today, for the good of tomorrow, and there is no path to net zero without circularity – put simply, where materials are retained in use at their highest value for as long as possible and are then reused or recycled, leaving a minimum of residual waste.
We can’t simply click our fingers to make what already exists in the world to go away so that we can pivot to new models. Progress requires some measure of bravery, investment, and risk-taking, it also requires collaboration and action to work through the transition to a circular economy. It’s the ‘how’ that some grapple with.
What to expect
To bring circularity to life and answer some of your questions, we will be joined by a panel of experts following the screening who will open the floor for discussion. This will be followed by a drinks reception and an opportunity to network and make new connections.
