Barrhead Travel reveals top destinations for British holidaymakers this winter as one of the wettest summers on record draws to an end

Barrhead Travel, one of the UK’s leading travel agencies, has reported significant demand for winter breaks with the Canary Islands, Florida and cruising top of the must-visit list for holidaymakers.

Around one third (30%) of new bookings with the travel agent firm is for winter 2023 departures, with some of the top destinations for customers including Tenerife, Barbados, Orlando, Lanzarote and Caribbean cruises.

The group reports that October is currently the number one booking month as families get ready to make the most of the half-term break next month.

Barrhead Travel’s experts say that all-inclusive remain the most popular type of holiday, providing the perfect getaway for those looking to manage spending, and proving that value for money is still top of the priority list for many customers.

Barrhead Travel’s recently announced that it had recorded a record-breaking summer of bookings, with summer departures 56% higher than last year, and 26% higher compared with 2019 figures, its last reported record-breaking year. The firm is already booking for summer 2024 departures, with demand proving strong.

Following the pandemic, industry levels have returned to normal, with the travel agent firm reporting eight consecutive record-breaking months since the beginning of 2023.

Jacqueline Dobson, President at Barrhead Travel said:

“In recent weeks, our bookings for winter getaways have risen. People are eager to get away to spend quality time with their families throughout the October break, and the value-for-money provided by all-inclusive resorts and cruise holidays, for example, continues to be attractive for many customers.

“One third of our new bookings are for departures throughout the winter period. It’s a clear indication that people are keen to make up for lost holidays – and escape some of the wet weather we’ve been seeing in the UK over the summer months.

“If you are still to book, we would recommend doing so sooner rather than later to secure preferred dates and locations, like the ever-popular Canaries and family-friendly long-haul destinations like Orlando. Booking with a reputable travel agent, such as Barrhead Travel, will guarantee the best prices and full financial protection.”

Barrhead Travel’s retail network is open seven days a week until late as well as offering evening support through their online service, call centres and social media channels.
