Glasgow is the UK’s top shopping destination outside London and the retail sector is a key contributor to the city economy. One in every seven jobs in Glasgow is in retail and the sector contributes £2.6bn annually.
The City Centre Retail Association (CCRA) was established to provide a forum for city centre retailers to discuss issues and priorities to support the sector.
Key priorities to maintain position in European retail hierarchy are to encourage footfall, promote key attributes and to position the city centre as the destination of choice for shoppers and retail investors.
The CCRA is chaired by Anne Ledgerwood (General Manager Glasgow’s St Enoch Centre) and includes representation from city centre shopping malls, major retail chains and small / independent Glasgow retailers.

Going forward, the City Centre Retail Association is focused on undertaking activity that supports Glasgow’s positioning as a retail destination. This includes:
- Working with Glasgow City Council and partners on the successful delivery of the Glasgow City Centre Strategy and actively engaging in relevant projects
- Supporting the delivery of activity that drives footfall and enhances the visitor experience including marketing campaigns and events
