As part of Glasgow’s 850th anniversary celebrations, Taste the Place launches on 2 April, inviting food lovers to embark on a free, self-guided culinary journey through Glasgow’s diverse food scene.
Created by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and Glasgow 850, the campaign brings together over 40 eateries representing 23 cuisines, creating a delicious way to explore the city’s cultural identity.
To guide your adventure, Taste the Place’s website offers downloadable maps featuring three themed experiences, each offering a different way to explore Glasgow’s identity:
Taste the World – Embark on a flavour-filled journey across the city’s multicultural food landscape, sampling everything from authentic Venezuelan empanadas to Korean street food.
Taste Through Time – Enjoy delicious dishes served in some of Glasgow’s most iconic and historic venues, where the city’s heritage meets its thriving food culture.
Taste for Good – Discover venues that not only serve authentic flavours but also support local communities through social initiatives.
Throughout April, selected venues will serve up exclusive dishes and drinks inspired by their heritage.
For those keen to bring a taste of Glasgow into their own kitchens, Taste the Place also features a collection of recipes from participating restaurants - try your hand at Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s favourite treat, sand cake, submitted by The Willow Tea Rooms.
Whether you’re sipping whisky at The Clydeside Distillery or enjoying nduja mince and tatties at Café Gandolfi, Taste the Place is your chance to experience Glasgow one bite at a time.
