STV Radio: Brand new national Scottish radio station announces launch date and full schedule

2026 will get off to a noisy start, as hotly-anticipated national Scottish radio station, STV Radio, today confirms it will officially launch on Wednesday 7 January.

The station promises to cure the January blues with an exciting schedule packed with Scotland’s favourite radio voices and an eclectic music offering with all the best tracks from the 80s, 90s and 2000s.

STV Radio’s slogan – Never the Same Song, All Day Long – underpins the station’s commitment to offer a broader, more imaginative music mix every day, with less repetition and loads more brilliant tunes.

Launching at 8am on Wednesday 7 January, the first voices heard on STV Radio will be those of legendary radio duo Ewen Cameron and Cat Harvey. Ewen and Cat at Breakfast, sponsored by CR Smith, will soundtrack listeners’ mornings from the dreaded early alarm and all the way through the busy morning commute, keeping them company with Ewen and Cat’s signature banter, hilarious stories, competitions, celebrity guests and live in-studio performances. After launch day, the programme will air from 6 – 10am, Monday to Friday.

Cat Harvey said: “It’s been a little while since we left our old station and you won’t believe the amount of stories I’ve got banked up waiting to be told! That’s the thing I love most about our show – it’s a place where we can be ourselves, with no airs or graces, and just have a laugh every morning with our incredible community of listeners. STV Radio is such an exciting new platform for us and we’re honoured to be kicking off an absolute belter of a line-up on 7 January. Set your alarms!”

Ewen Cameron said: “It’s almost here! We’ve spent the last few months working away behind-the-scenes with our brilliant new team, building STV Radio from the ground up. Being a part of this launch is genuinely one of the highlights of my career, and with just weeks to go, I can’t wait to get back on air with Cat and start the new year with lots of fun and silliness for our lovely listeners, old and new. We’ve missed you lot!”

Ewen and Cat are joined on the STV Radio weekday line-up by some of the most recognisable radio voices in Scotland, each hailing from different corners of the country. From Monday to Thursday, Greigsy takes the mic from 10am, with Webster taking over from 2pm, followed by Evenings with Micky Gavin at 6pm. The Late Show with Jodie McCluskey will take listeners into the wee small hours from 10pm. The schedule remains largely the same on Fridays, with the exception of High School Hits with Mike Macdermid kicking off the weekend with four hours of nostalgic bangers.

STV Radio’s personality-led schedule continues into the weekend, with Alan Edwards hosting Weekend Breakfast from 6 – 9am on Saturdays and Sundays. Micky Gavin takes the helm from 9am – 12noon, presenting alongside Still Game icon Jane McCarry on Saturdays and Cat Harvey on Sundays.

The STV Radio Football Show, which launched earlier this year as a weekly podcast, will be live on STV Radio every Saturday afternoon from 2 – 6pm, with Ewen Cameron and Ronnie Charters bringing listeners all the matchday drama and analysis as it happens.

What’s On Scotland, STV’s weekly entertainment magazine series which airs on Friday evenings on STV and STV Player, will launch a companion show on STV Radio every Sunday from 4 – 7pm. Expanding on the formula that has made the TV series a hit with viewers since launching in 2019, Emma Cameron and Laura Boyd will bring listeners all the goss on the most exciting cultural happenings across Scotland, as well as extended interviews with huge stars and emerging talent.

And another popular member of the STV family – weather presenter Sean Batty – will be a prominent voice on STV Radio too, bringing listeners the latest forecasts throughout the day on Ewen and Cat at Breakfast and on Greigsy and Webster’s shows.

Graham Bryce, MD of Audio at STV, said: “The countdown to the STV Radio launch is well and truly underway and we’re delighted to unveil our full schedule today. We’ve assembled an enviable line-up of Scottish presenting talent, with some of the country’s best-known and most-loved radio voices, as well as popular TV stars who I’m looking forward to hearing make the transition to the airwaves.

“STV Radio is made in Scotland for the people of Scotland, and the regional diversity of our line-up reflects our commitment to serving every corner of the country with our daily offering of great music, relatable chat and – most importantly – fun. There’s nothing else quite like STV Radio in the Scottish media landscape right now, and it’s been a pleasure to bring this exciting idea to fruition. We hope you can join us on 7 January.”

STV Radio officially launches at 8am on Wednesday 7 January. The station will be available across Scotland on DAB, STV Player, stvradio.co.uk and on your smart speaker – just ask it to “Play STV Radio”.

STV Radio will begin test transmissions this week, rolling out on DAB and DAB+ regions of Scotland in the coming weeks ahead of launch. Listeners are invited to tune in to get a flavour of the station and its playlist.

From Friday 2 January, STV Radio’s 1000 Song Countdown will begin and continue right through to the official launch on Wednesday 7 January. Listeners can submit song requests for the 1000 Song Countdown at stvradio.co.uk.
