06 Oct 2026
The current road closure on the south side of George Square, including the Queen Street/St Vincent Place junction, will be extended.
To facilitate the reconstruction of the southern carriageway using granite setts, the area must remain fully closed to traffic. The Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) extends the existing closure until 29 November 2026, allowing sufficient time for the setts to cure and enabling the carriageway to be safely reopened to traffic.
The suspension of the Ingram Street bus gate will remain in place for the duration of this closure.
Access to St Vincent Place will continue to be available via Nelson Mandela Place, West George Street and Anchor Lane. The bus gate camera at Nelson Mandela Place will remain operational; however, commercial vehicles will continue to be permitted access for the duration of the closure.
Anchor Lane will remain operational in a southbound direction.
The following streets will operate as two-way roads and become no-through routes:
Please find below copies of the TTRO, Traffic Information Bulletin (TIB), and the associated traffic management plans, which show the diversion routes and traffic arrangements for the closure.
