Social enterprise, The Circle, has revitalised the former Westwood Business Centre in Easterhouse, Glasgow, creating ten new jobs, and building a thriving community-based hub in the once nearly empty office building.
The Circle offers affordable, flexible workspaces for social enterprises, community groups, charities and private businesses.
Since The Circle opened in Easterhouse in September 2019, occupancy of the Westwood Business Centre has increased from 25% to 85%.
Tenants at The Circle now include Network Solutions Scotland, Turning Point Scotland, and Chattersense.
The transformation of the Easterhouse building has been made possible through a collaboration with Glasgow City Council and City Property under the "Space for Growth" initiative.
"Our mission is to create vibrant, supportive spaces where socially minded organisations can thrive," said Paul Hastie, Co-Chief Executive Officer, The Circle. "The success of our Easterhouse project not only demonstrates the demand for such spaces but also the community's potential for growth and development."
The "Space for Growth" project has had a profound impact on the local community, with The Circle directly creating 10 jobs and up to a further 85 jobs now based at the centre through the increased number of tenants.
The Circle has also established strong partnerships with local organisations, including Easterhouse Housing and Regeneration Alliance (EHRA) and The Platform, further embedding itself within the community.
"By working closely with local partners, we can ensure our efforts are aligned with the community's needs and aspirations," added Hub Manager, Tomasz Fecinski-Gawel. "These partnerships are crucial in driving forward our shared vision of a vibrant, prosperous Easterhouse".
The Circle has worked with Barnardo’s to distribute school uniforms to those in need. In partnership with Action for Children, The Circle have helped distribute over 5,000 baby food pouches to the local community.
By providing affordable, flexible office spaces, The Circle empowers organisations to focus on their core missions, fostering a collaborative environment where community impact is at the forefront.
For businesses and charities seeking a diverse, flexible and supportive environment, The Circle offers the perfect solution. Please get in touch with Tomasz, Hub Manager to arrange a visit to find out more about working together on 0141 732 0030 or via email, tomasz@thecirclecic.org.uk
