Energy stars line-up for All-Energy and Dcarbonise 2024

Readers may recall Donald Rumsfeld's views on the concepts of known knowns, known unknowns, and unknown unknowns. The organisers of All-Energy 2024, the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference, and the co-located Dcarbonise, can now reveal some of the many ‘known knowns’ amongst the topics and speakers in the major conference on 15 and 16 May at Glasgow’s SEC.

“Politicians, industry leaders, working engineers and academic specialists abound in the stellar line-up of some 600+ speakers over the two days. All are working towards a single target – net zero,” explained Jonathan Heastie, Portfolio Director Energy & Marine, RX Global, who own and organise the duo of co-located events.

“They range from Scotland’s First Minister, Humza Yousaf MSP, through to a veritable ‘who’s who’ of experts speaking in our plenary sessions, including Louise Kingham, Senior Vice President, Europe and Head of Country at BP; Emma Pinchbeck, Chief Executive, Energy UK; Professor Jim Skea, Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) ; and Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council on opening morning.

“On day two we welcome Gillian Martin MSP, Scotland’s Minister for Energy, Just Transition and Fair Work; followed by a panel discussion on ‘Delivering a net zero electricity system – how do we build a supply chain?’ chaired by Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Principal and Vice Chancellor of Strathclyde University, and President of the Royal ‘Academy of Engineering. Darren Davidson, Vice President of Siemens Energy UK&I and Siemens Gamesa UK; Dervilla Mitchell, Deputy Chair of Arup Group and Charlotte Middleton, Deputy Director, Electricity Networks Policy & Offshore in the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero are amongst those discussing the challenge. Later Sir Jim will have a ‘fireside chat’ with Sir Ian Wood, Chair of ETZ Ltd.

“The duo of events encompasses topics ranging from offshore wind (and all other forms of renewable energy), hydrogen and energy storage to the Dcarbonise’s range of subjects (decarbonising the built environment, heat, cities/places, industry – including CCS, and transport). Minister Patrick Harvie will speak in the first heat session on opening day. Other session topics range from finance and funding, to community and local energy; and purchase power agreements to future talent and the supply chain.
