Free allergy awareness clinic at Glasgow Science Centre this weekend

Glasgow residents will have the chance to explore cutting-edge allergy research at a free public event this weekend, as part of one of the largest allergy and immunology congresses in the world.

The EAACI Clinical Allergy Village, hosted at Glasgow Science Centre, is a public-facing event forming part of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) Congress 2025 taking place across the city. From 10am to 2pm on 13 and 14 June, it will give members of the public the opportunity to meet leading clinicians and researchers, learn about allergy symptoms and solutions, and explore how global environmental changes are influencing allergy-related health.

Organised by EAACI, with support from Glasgow Convention Bureau and the Scottish Event Campus, the event is designed for families, students, healthcare workers, and anyone keen to better understand common allergic conditions – from hay fever and eczema to asthma and food intolerances.

Dr Mohamed Shamji, Secretary General of EAACI, said "We’re delighted to be bringing the Clinical Allergy Village to Glasgow. Allergic diseases affect more than 150 million people in Europe alone – many of whom go undiagnosed or under-treated. This event will offer practical, accessible advice to help people better manage their health, while also showcasing the latest advances in science and care."

The Clinical Allergy Village is part of the wider EAACI 2025 Congress, which will take place from 13 – 16 June at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), attracting over 7,500 international attendees to Glasgow, including leading scientists, clinicians and public health professionals from more than 100 countries.

One of the key themes of this year’s Congress is the growing relationship between climate change and allergic disease, with experts set to discuss how shifts in our environment are impacting public health outcomes.

Kathleen Warden, Director of Conference Sales at the SEC, added: "We’re proud to host EAACI 2025 and support the launch of the Clinical Allergy Village here in Glasgow. Events like this not only enrich our city’s scientific legacy but provide real, tangible benefits for local communities. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect global expertise with everyday health challenges."

The SEC’s hosting of EAACI 2025 forms part of a bumper year for international medical and scientific events in the city, following the Congress of the European Atherosclerosis Society and the Annual Conference of the European Association of Poison Centres and Clinical Toxicologists.

Over its four-day run, EAACI 2025 is expected to deliver a significant economic benefit of £27m to Glasgow’s economy, £32m for Scotland and £54m for the UK, alongside a lasting knowledge legacy that further strengthens Glasgow’s standing in global medical research, public health, and life sciences.
