Turning 40 this year felt like a milestone worth celebrating, and what a year it has been! As Membership Manager at Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and President of Scottish Women in Business (SWIB), I’ve had the privilege of connecting with inspiring people, hosting impactful events, and contributing to a thriving business community.
A Year of Events and Connections
January started strong with Glasgow Talks featuring Scottish Enterprise, celebrating Lochlie Construction’s 10th birthday, and attending Clarity Consultant’s No Procrastination Retreat. February followed with SWIB’s “In Conversation with Cat Paterson” and Glasgow Talks on sustainability at Scottish Power’s HQ. The Glasgow City Innovation District (GCID) networking event at The Address highlighted the importance of collaboration in innovation.
Celebrating Women and Leadership
March was a personal highlight as I spoke at Glasgow Chamber’s International Women’s Day event at Citation and joined the panel at SWIB’s event at Royal Bank of Scotland to discuss connection and collaboration. April saw me on represent Glasgow Chamber at the Scottish Asian Business Chamber’s EID celebration alongside Anas Sarwar Leader of the Scottish Labour Party and Michael Dean of Dentons.
Milestones and Personal Achievements
In July, I turned 40 and celebrated with a trip to Ibiza. In May, I worked on Glasgow Chamber’s Congress of Business at SWG3 and enjoyed a fantastic holiday in Bologna, capped off with the Imola Grand Prix. August brought another standout moment as I was Best Woman at Rebecca and Simon’s wedding at Comrie Croft.
Building Community and Driving Change
From hosting Glasgow Chamber’s Women’s Networking Lunch at Crossbasket Castle with Julie Moulsdale to September’s lunch with Hina Rubbani-Mills at Radisson Blu, the year has been filled with moments of empowerment. Relaunching The SWIB Awards 2024 and extending my presidency reaffirmed my commitment to championing women in business.
Ending on a High Note
October brought the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon and panels like DYW and SWIB’s event at the University of Glasgow. November included "Glaschu Conversations" with Lord Willie Haughey and Anas Sarwar, networking at STV, and an AI roundtable on women’s roles in the field. December has been all about festive celebrations, including hosting Glasgow Chamber’s Christmas event with guest speaker Kat Wallace at One Devonshire Gardens and SWIB’s Christmas party at Blue Dog.
As I reflect on this incredible year, I’m grateful for every opportunity, connection, and celebration. Here’s to more inspiration, collaboration, and success in 2025!
