Job Description
Fearless is the dedicated youth service of independent charity Crimestoppers. It provides young people with the opportunity to give information about crime 100% anonymously.
Fearless empowers young people to speak up about crime by;
- Promoting our unique service to speak up about crime 100% anonymously
- Raising awareness of what constitutes a crime
- Breaking down the barriers to reporting crime
As Fearless Outreach Worker, you will be supported to work on our latest project working with young New Scots, with specific responsibility for raising awareness of our multi-language service.
You will arrange, prepare, facilitate and deliver Fearless sessions to young people which explore the barriers to reporting information about crime and how our service offers them a way to do so without fear of stigma or reprisal. You will also raise awareness of our crucial service to adults who work with young people across Scotland and build relationships with strategic partners.
Please note this is a work placement opportunity for the duration of 26 weeks
Key Responsibilities
- To support the delivery our Fearless programme to young people in a variety of community settings across Scotland and for the professionals working with those young people; facilitating a bespoke Fearless workshop, ensuring the workshop links to our charity’s values and the objectives set out in our Scotland business plan.
- To build partnerships Scotland-wide with: youth agencies, Police, Local Authorities and other organisations
- Implement a robust evaluation method, including compiling statistics of the workshops and partnership work for internal and external reports.
- Look for ongoing opportunities to raise the awareness of the Fearless service direct to young people and the professionals working with them.
- To work with the Fearless Scotland Manager and Fearless Head Office Team to manage and deliver local Fearless Projects and Campaigns
- To work with the Regional Manager and Development Team to secure continued funding opportunities.
- To be responsible for recording and completing evaluations of the workshops and partnership work for internal and external reports.
- To represent the Fearless team at events.
- Support Fearless Scotland Manager and Head Office Team to develop content for Fearless social media platforms.
Essential skills, experience and qualifications
- Confident and organised individual.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work and communicate with a variety of different audiences and stakeholders
- The ability to plan your own work, use your initiative and meet deadlines.
- Experience of working with young people.
- An interest in community safety.
- Ability to gain/maintain PVG Scheme membership.
Desirable
- Knowledge of social issues relating to refugees and asylum seekers
- Understanding of the key crime issues experienced by young people
- Ability to speak Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Kurmanji or Sorani
Number of Hours Per Week 21 hours per week for 26 hours
Working pattern and contracted hours (including any shift patterns)
Flexible to suit successful applicant and needs of the charity. No shift work etc. Some weekends and early evenings may be occasionally required.
