Job Description
The Facilities Support Officer at Pollok United ensures the smooth operation and welcoming environment across three sites: Nethercraigs, Dennis Donnelly, and the Corkerhill Community Hub. This role is crucial in maintaining facilities, promoting activities, and supporting community engagement in line with PU goals of fostering sports, welfare, and health & wellbeing.
This role supports PUs mission by ensuring well-maintained facilities, satisfied users, and effective promotion of community activities.
Please note this is a work placement opportunity for the duration of 26 weeks
Key Responsibilities
- To provide a welcoming face and assist in the active promotion of all activities whether Sports, Welfare or Health & Wellbeing related.
- To deliver an effective front of house reception and background housekeeping service for staff & users of Nethercraigs, Dennis Donnelly and the Corkerhill Community Hub.
- Reception duties, acting as a point of contact for visitors, clients or suppliers via email, over the phone or in person as required.
- Assist in the setting up of the facilities, both internally and externally for the benefit of all users. Utilising the Safety Culture App to ensure all health and safety check are recorded.
- Assist in marketing & promoting all services and activities undertaken by Pollok United & the Corkerhill hub utilising a combination of marketing materials including social media such as Facebook, Webpages, Tik Tok & Instagram;
- Ensure repairs are recorded & reported timeously to the Club Manager.
- Assist in the opening and closing of facilities as required, ensuring windows/doors are open/ closed
- To be the friendly, helpful and professional point of contact for telephone calls and visitors to all Pollok United facilities, responding quickly and efficiently to all enquiries;
- To provide directions and advice to users of all Pollok United facilities.
- To learn & utilise the ‘Timetree’ booking system effectively, ensuring user needs are understood and documented.
- To assist in setting up and disassembling equipment around all Pollok United facilities
- To undertake other tasks which may be reasonably assigned by the Club Manager.
Essential skills, experience and qualifications
Experience and Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in meeting and interacting with people.
Skills and Abilities:
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to deliver a friendly, welcoming, and professional front-of-house reception service.
- Willingness to learn in using booking systems
- Good organisational skills
- Basic housekeeping
- Willingness to learn non-cash payment transaction system
Personal Attributes:
- Enthusiastic
- Basic knowledge of health and wellbeing activities
- Reliable and punctual
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Physically able to assist in setting up and disassembling equipment.
Desirable Criteria
Additional Experience and Qualifications:
- Formal qualification in any of the relevant areas (IT, Admin, Facilities booking, sports coaching, marketing, or community engagement).
- Experience in a similar role within a community, sports, or welfare setting.
Additional Skills:
- Proficiency in using social media for marketing and promotion. Experience in maintaining and managing equipment, including bicycles and ICT equipment.
Prior experience (voluntary or paid) in any of the following areas:
- Information Technology (IT)
- Administration
- Facilities booking
- Sports coaching
- Marketing via social media
- Community engagement
Number of Hours Per Week 21 hours per week for 26 weeks
Working pattern and contracted hours (including any shift patterns)
4 days - 4pm - 9pm (some weekend work may be required)

Details of Training Provided
We currently operate a mentoring structure that allows for an experienced facilities officer to shadow any new member of staff for on-the-job training.
We currently meet with staff informally on a daily basis and on a monthly basis to discuss their personal development.
We conduct thorough familiarization training, ensuring officers are fully prepared for their roles through comprehensive hands-on practice. This approach equips them with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform effectively.
