Job Description
The key function of this role will be to support the work of our Sustainable Business Development team, with a key focus on our environmental and fundraising activities.
At SSF we are embedding sustainability into everything we do. We have ambitious targets to meet relating to climate change and income generation and the post holder will be responsible for completing administrative tasks relating to climate change initiatives and fundraising events that we are delivering.
This is a critical role which will help us to deliver on existing commitments, develop new initiatives, and expand on what we are currently achieving in these key areas of the business.
Please note this is a work placement opportunity for the duration of 26 weeks
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on administrative tasks associated with delivering existing environmental initiatives. This may include:
- Accurate and timely data entry and processing
- Preparing certificates
- Liaising with SSF staff to coordinate the delivery of our GameOn for Climate workshop
- Maintaining online filing systems
- Supporting with the organisation of our annual sportswear donation drive
- Supporting with data collection for carbon counting
- Lead on administrative tasks associated with delivering fundraising initiatives. This may include:
- Organising fundraising events
- Coordinating staff attendance at fundraising events
- Minute-taking and participation in our Business Sustainability Working Group
- Work together with and support other members of the Business Sustainability Working Group to achieve actions.
- General office admin duties as required, such as answering telephones and directing enquiries, minute-taking, ordering office supplies, and supporting with other administrative tasks.
- Support the ongoing digitalisation and sustainable development of administrative processes.
- Contribute ideas for new fundraising opportunities.
- Ensure that initiatives are designed and delivered in line with SSF Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
- Ensure that relevant upskilling in relation to environmental sustainability and climate change is undertaken.
- Help to create social media content to promote SSF initiatives and campaigns
- Provide information for inclusion in quarterly and annual organisational and funders reports, to evidence impact, as required.
- Ensure SSF data management system kept up to date with participant, stakeholder and partner information.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Good IT skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Ability to work well as part of a team, or independently using own initiative

- Ability to produce engaging and compelling social media content
- Ability and willingness to work in a flexible manner.
Desirable
- Experience of working in an administrative role
- Experience of working in an office environment
- Ability to take meeting minutes
- Experience of / interest in organising events
- Experience of using systems for data entry
- Understanding of child protection and safeguarding
Number of Hours Per Week 21 hours per week for 26 weeks
Working pattern and contracted hours (including any shift patterns)
Monday – Friday between 9-5 (preferably applicant would work 3 full days out of 5) Evening and weekend work may be required based on need

Details of Training Provided
Each employee at SSF has a target of participating in at least 16 hours of training per year. We would ensure that the successful applicant is given the time and encouragement to complete training in line with our wider policies and that training is relevant to the role.
The applicant will also be invited to attend any wider organisational training which is organised for all staff.
