As Managing Director of A.C. Whyte & Co. Ltd, Jennifer leads an award-winning family business that stands as one of Scotland's most experienced major refurbishment and energy efficiency Main Contractors. With a heritage spanning five decades, A.C. Whyte & Co. Ltd has built a reputation for excellence and innovation in the construction industry, consistently delivering high-quality projects and pioneering solutions.
Jennifer leads a team of experts, including a management team with over 360 years of collective experience and a fully trained, directly employed workforce of over 115. Her skilled team has delivered projects with 22 of the 32 Local Authorities in Scotland and over 40 Housing Associations, showcasing their unparalleled expertise and commitment to quality.
Since assuming the role of Managing Director in 2015, Jennifer has demonstrated her passion for the industry through active participation in numerous committees, groups, and boards. These include her contributions to the NIA Scottish Committee, INCA Board & Scottish Committee, and the Energy Efficiency Scotland - Quality & Skills Working Group and the CITB Scottish Council. Presently, she holds key positions on the governance board at BE-ST and the Construction Leadership Forum.
Jennifer recognises that the construction industry, specifically the refurbishment sector, is poised for immense opportunity, with world-leading, ambitious targets for net zero. She firmly believes that strong, people-focused leaders must emerge in critical times such as this, who can contribute to a thriving net zero economy, improving how we all live and work to break down the barriers of inequality.
Jennifer and key members of her team worked in partnership with West College Scotland to design and launch the unique, industry leading A.C. Whyte Skills Academy in 2018. The Skills Academy has proven to be an effective model for delivering a sustainable pipeline of talent while also addressing the skills shortage in the construction industry.
